| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Herbert L. "Herb" Walls of |
| 4 | | Jacksonville, who passed away on February 10, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Herbert Walls was born to Howard and Mildred |
| 6 | | (Varble) Walls in Beardstown on March 4, 1929; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Beardstown High School in 1947; he then moved to |
| 8 | | Jacksonville; he married Eldena Duncan at the Central |
| 9 | | Christian Church in Jacksonville on August 24, 1958, and she |
| 10 | | preceded him in death; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Herbert Walls worked for A&P, and he was a member |
| 12 | | of the Illinois National Guard when called into active service |
| 13 | | for the Korean War in 1952; he entered his duty assignment as |
| 14 | | sergeant in Company B, 27th Infantry Regiment, known as the |
| 15 | | "Wolfhounds"; upon his return, he worked at A&P for many more |
| 16 | | years before its closing; he retired from the State of |
| 17 | | Illinois Department of Revenue; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, For his military service, Herbert Walls earned |
| 19 | | the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the |
| 20 | | United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and |
| 21 | | one Overseas Service Bar; he was authorized the Republic of |
| 22 | | Korea Presidential Unit Citation Badge in 1985; and
