| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Charles A. "Charlie" Cheesman of Rock |
| 4 | | Island, who passed away on March 18, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Cheesman was born to Lonnie and Lillie |
| 6 | | (DeMoss) Cheesman on October 1, 1936; he served in the U.S. |
| 7 | | Army during the Korean War; he married Sandy Long on November |
| 8 | | 21, 1981; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Cheesman worked in maintenance for the |
| 10 | | Rock Island/Milan School District, retiring from Earl Hanson |
| 11 | | Elementary School in 2004; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Cheesman was heavily involved in |
| 13 | | fastpitch softball and served as a pitcher for the Argus |
| 14 | | Softball team in the early 1960s, playing in the World |
| 15 | | Softball Tournament at Douglas Park in Rock Island; he |
| 16 | | continued his love of softball by helping coach at Rock Island |
| 17 | | High School and Black Hawk College; he also helped with the |
| 18 | | formation of the Rock Island Red Sox baseball team; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Cheesman was a member of the Milan VFW |
| 20 | | and the American Legion; he especially enjoyed fishing and was |
| 21 | | a member of the Rock Island Conservation Club; he was a fan of |
