SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Patricia Jane "Pat" Oliver, who passed 
4away on March 12, 2022; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat Oliver was born to Robert L. Smith and 
6Dwighla (Rice) Smith in Taylorville on February 26, 1948; she 
7graduated from Stonington High School; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Pat Oliver retired from the City of Decatur; 
9after retirement, she opened Patricia's Sewing Sensation; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Pat Oliver was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, 
11grandmother, aunt, and beloved friend; she was loved by all 
12who met her and could light up a room with her smile and laugh; 
13she was known for having a talent for arts and crafts and 
14sewing and for helping others; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Pat Oliver was preceded in death by her father, 
16Robert L. Smith, and her sons, James Mark Buchanan and Steven 
17Earl Buchanan; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Pat Oliver is survived by her husband of 25 
19years, Bill; her sons, Robert Buchanan and Michael Oliver; her 
20mother, Dwighla; her brother, Larry Smith; her sister, Karen

1Mahan; her grandchildren, Ryland, Declan, Mya, and Vanessa; 
2her best friends, Pam, Roxanne, and Tricia; and her many 
3extended family members and friends; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Patricia Jane "Pat" Oliver and extend our sincere condolences 
7to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be 
8it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Pat Oliver as an expression of our 
11deepest sympathy.
