| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Jason S. "Geo" Georgacakis of Mount |
| 4 | | Prospect, who passed away on March 10, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jason Georgacakis was born on July 30, 1981; he |
| 6 | | grew up in Northbrook and attended Glenbrook North High |
| 7 | | School; he studied marine biology in college; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Jason Georgacakis began teaching at Schaumburg |
| 9 | | High School in 2005, where he taught biology, AP biology, and |
| 10 | | health careers and medical terminology; he served as the |
| 11 | | sponsor for the Health Occupations Students of America Club |
| 12 | | and coached soccer; he coached boys soccer from 2007 to 2017 |
| 13 | | and had coached the junior varsity girls team since 2008; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jason Georgacakis, or "Mr. G" as his students |
| 15 | | called him, was incredibly popular with those he taught; he |
| 16 | | was even chosen to be the featured speaker at a Schaumburg High |
| 17 | | Senior Breakfast; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jason Georgacakis lived and taught with |
| 19 | | exuberance, authenticity, and a desire to connect with the |
| 20 | | people with whom he shared life; he was quick to laugh, quicker |
| 21 | | to smile, and the first to step in and offer whatever help he |
|

| 1 | | could when needed; he was a beloved husband and father, an |
| 2 | | influential teacher, an inspirational coach and sponsor, a |
| 3 | | trusted colleague, and as true a friend as anyone could find; |
| 4 | | his wit, humor, and humility will never be replaced or |
| 5 | | forgotten; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Jason Georgacakis was |
| 7 | | survived by his wife, Rachael Rothrauff; his daughters, Mila |
| 8 | | and Lidia; his loving parents, Jody and John; his siblings, |
| 9 | | Justin (Ali), Jarrod (Kris), and Jenna (Matt); his nephews, |
| 10 | | Cheydon, Everett, Declan, Gavin, Blake, and Ian; his aunts, |
| 11 | | Tommi and Elaine; his uncles, Gary and Louie; his cousin, |
| 12 | | Brittney (Ben); his in-laws, Lorraine, Tom, Tina, and Ben; and |
| 13 | | his many colleagues, friends, and students; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | Jason S. "Geo" Georgacakis and extend our sincere condolences |
| 17 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
| 18 | | it further
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
|
| 20 | | presented to the family of Jason Georgacakis as an expression |
| 21 | | of
our deepest sympathy.
