| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Richard K. Hakanson of Silvis, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 2, 2022; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was born to Elmer and Juanita |
| 6 | | (Rees) Hakanson in Crawfordsville, Iowa on September 21, 1934; |
| 7 | | he served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1959; he married |
| 8 | | Phyllis Cox on February 27, 1960, and she preceded him in death |
| 9 | | in 1997; he later married Barbara (Brand) Bennett in 2000; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was employed at John Deere; he |
| 11 | | retired in 1994; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was a self-taught, talented |
| 13 | | woodworker and handyman; he loved American history and hot |
| 14 | | rods; he adored all animals, and he was known for helping and |
| 15 | | bringing home stray cats and dogs; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Richard Hakanson was funny, long-winded, |
| 17 | | opinionated, stubborn, tough, and sometimes downright |
| 18 | | cantankerous; he was very proud of and adored Connie |
| 19 | | (Farrance) Brackney, Louis Andre Delouiser, and Cherie |
| 20 | | (Peterson) Husain, his "rug rats"; and
