| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James "Jim" A. Johnston, who passed |
| 4 | | away on March 18, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was born to James M. and Margaret |
| 6 | | (Birch) Johnston in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 29, 1945; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Washington High School in 1964 and then from |
| 8 | | the University of Illinois School of Architecture; he married |
| 9 | | Pamela (Schmidt) Rudin in Springfield in April of 1982; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston owned James A. Johnston and |
| 11 | | Associates for over 25 years; he was also an accomplished |
| 12 | | artist and photographer; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was a founding board member of |
| 14 | | Downtown Springfield, Inc. and founder of Sustainable |
| 15 | | Springfield, Inc.; he was a scout master for Boy Scout Troop 2 |
| 16 | | and was twice president of the Sertoma Club; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was very active in the Baha'i |
| 18 | | community and the American Indian community; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was preceded in death by his parents |
| 20 | | and his son, Benjamin Rudin; and
