2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Thomas Rimbey "Tom" Lukeman, who |
4 | | passed away on February 24, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman was born to George T. Lukeman Jr. and |
6 | | Maymestelle in Jacksonville on January 4, 1935; he grew up in |
7 | | Woodland; he was an Eagle Scout who loved the outdoors, and he |
8 | | often reminisced about his adventurous trips to Glacier Park, |
9 | | Montana; he graduated from Bradley University, where he was a |
10 | | member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity; he served in the U.S. |
11 | | Army; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman enjoyed working at several family |
13 | | businesses in Jacksonville, including the Lukeman Motor |
14 | | Company and Sandy Creek Farm; he later worked in finance at SIU |
15 | | School of Medicine; he retired as controller from the Illinois |
16 | | State Commerce Commission; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman was a veteran, an American patriot, |
18 | | and an avid Republican; he was a member of Elks Lodge 682 and |
19 | | the Jacksonville Country Club; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman was a loving husband, a wonderful |
21 | | father, and a good man with a great sense of humor; alongside |

1 | | his wife, he loved traveling to visit their children in |
2 | | Tennessee, Florida, South Africa, and California; he lived his |
3 | | life to the fullest; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman was preceded in death by his parents; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Tom Lukeman is survived by his wife, Joanne; his |
7 | | daughter, Connie Lukeman-Alston (Nick); his stepchildren, Bob |
8 | | Hill (Jean), Diane Hardwick (Larry, deceased), and Brad Hill |
9 | | (Debbie); his grandchildren, Dustin Hardwick (Joy), Dana |
10 | | Bangert (Matt), Katie Grant (Chris), Audrey Seyerle (Franz), |
11 | | Tyler Hill (Candace), and Andrew Hill; his 10 |
12 | | great-grandchildren; his sister, Judy Williams; his nephew, |
13 | | Tom Williams (Kelly); and his niece, Missy Bobb; therefore, be |
14 | | it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
17 | | Thomas Rimbey "Tom" Lukeman and extend our sincere condolences |
18 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
19 | | it further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Tom Lukeman as an expression of our |
22 | | deepest sympathy.
