SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clarence Edward "Ed" Brummett of Jacksonville, who passed away on April 26, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Ed Brummett was born to Milford Collier and Bertha Lee Brummett in Lynnville on July 17, 1924; he served as a sergeant in the Anti-Tank Company, 330th Infantry, Thunderbolt Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was involved in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge, with one and a half years of combat; he married Ruby Phyllis Francis on October 5, 1946, and they resided in Jacksonville for most of their lives before she preceded him in death on August 14, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Ed Brummett made his living as an Over the Road (OTR) semi truck driver; and

WHEREAS, Ed Brummett was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Ruby Phyllis, and his siblings, Francis Loomis, Margaret Brummett, Nola Dehlin, John Brummett, and Wendell Brummett; and

WHEREAS, Ed Brummett was the father of Janet Townslay (Bill), Bob Brummett (Karrie), Tammy Whewell (David Wiswell), and Cathy Wilson (Kenny); the grandfather of Tonya Pinkerton, Terri Reszka, Jeff Brummett, Alexis Brummett, Casey Fallgatter, TJ Smith, Josh Roach, Zach Roach, Justin Wilson, and Cole Wilson; and the great-grandfather of Max Pinkerton, Levi Pinkerton, Carter Pinkerton, Quentin Meyer, Mia Reszka, Declan Brummett, Delaney Brummett, Bohannon Fallgatter, Graham Smith, Westin Roach, Hayden Roach, Gunner Roach, Maverick Roach, Hunter Six, Alexia Wilson, and Dylann Hayes; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Clarence Edward "Ed" Brummett and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ed Brummett as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
