SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Thomas E. "Tom" Sanders of Spring 
4Grove, who passed away on July 1, 2022; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Sanders was born to George and Maxine (Bolt) 
6Sanders in Woodstock on  March 22, 1953; he graduated from 
7Richmond-Burton
High School in 1971; he married Mary 
8Clettenberg at St.
Matthew Lutheran Church in Lake Zurich
on 
9June 4, 1977; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Tom Sanders began his career  in law enforcement 
11at the McHenry County
Sheriff's Department in 1978, retiring 
12as a sergeant;
he served as the chief of police of Spring Grove 
13from 2007 until his retirement in 2021; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Tom Sanders devoted much of his life towards 
15serving his community, acting as a village trustee from 1992 
16until 2005 and as village president from 2005 until 2007; he

17also served as a volunteer firefighter; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Tom Sanders founded and served as president
of 
19the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 118, organizing the 
20group's yearly
fundraising golf outing for more than 20 years; 
21and

1    WHEREAS, Tom
Sanders was known for his quick wit and being 
2a true family man who loved spending time with his family; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Tom Sanders was preceded in death by his parents; 
4his sisters, Sandra Londberg and Georgie Gritzuk; and his

5brother, Bob Sanders; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Tom Sanders is survived by his wife of 45 years, 
7Mary; his children, Ehren, Kiel (Laura), and Ashley
Sanders; 
8his grandchildren, Lilly, Ava, Mia, and Zoe; his brother, Mike 
9(the late Cheryl)
Sanders; his sister-in-law, Donna Sanders; 
10and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

13Thomas E. "Tom" Sanders and extend our sincere
condolences to 
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it 
15further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

17presented to the family of Tom Sanders as an expression of
our 
18deepest sympathy.
