| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Donald D. "Don" Newton of Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 8, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Don Newton was born to Forrest and Helen (Dunton) |
| 6 | | Newton in Oskaloosa, Iowa on August 28, 1949; he attended |
| 7 | | schools in Fremont, Iowa before serving in the U.S. Navy; he |
| 8 | | married Sarah Jane (Reiling) West at the Port Byron First |
| 9 | | United Methodist Church on November 20, 1998; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Following his military service, Don Newton worked |
| 11 | | as a machinist for John Deere, retiring after 38 years in 2008; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Don Newton had a passion for nature, and he loved |
| 14 | | nothing more than listening to the wind and the trees; after |
| 15 | | retiring, he enjoyed taking care of his yard and home; he was |
| 16 | | an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Bulls; he loved eating |
| 17 | | chips and chocolate; he cherished his dog, Harley, and deeply |
| 18 | | loved his family; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Don Newton was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 20 | | his sister-in-law, Brenda Newton; and his great-granddaughter, |
| 21 | | Lily; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Don Newton is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane; |
| 2 | | his son, Don "D.J." (Tammy) Newton; his children, Tabitha |
| 3 | | Sanquist, Darrik (Kathy) West, and Lucas (Amanda) West; his |
| 4 | | siblings, Forrest Jr. (Bernadette) Newton, Richard "Dick" |
| 5 | | Newton, and Pam (Kenny) Sims; his grandchildren, Devon, |
| 6 | | Kimberly, Alysa, Ara Belle, Makayla, Gabriel, Emily, Kevin, |
| 7 | | Logan, Caden, and Penelope; his great-grandchildren, Jayden, |
| 8 | | Weston, Warren, and Natalie; and his many nieces, nephews, and |
| 9 | | cousins; therefore, be it
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
| 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 12 | | Donald D. "Don" Newton and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 13 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 14 | | further

| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 16 | | presented to the family of Don Newton as an expression of our |
| 17 | | deepest sympathy.
