SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Major Charles Robert Harper, U.S. Air
4Force (Ret) of Moline, who passed away on July 25, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Harper was born to Charles I. and Nelle
6L. (Putnam) Harper near Powersville, Missouri on September 1,
71931; he graduated from Powersville High School in 1949; he
8married Shirley Ask Scott on November 9, 1976, and they
9settled in Davenport, Iowa; and
 
10    WHEREAS, From 1950 to 1972, Charles Harper served in the
11U.S. Navy during the Korean War and the U.S. Air Force during
12the Vietnam War; he completed flight training in January 1957;
13prior to leaving the military, he attained the rank of major;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Charles Harper was employed as the airport
16manager of the Davenport Municipal Airport in Davenport, Iowa
17until his retirement in 1992; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Charles Harper was preceded in death by his
19parents and his siblings, Kay Mudd, Marie Sharp, Paul Barnes,
20and A. C. Barnes; and

1    WHEREAS, Charles Harper is survived by his wife, Shirley;
2his daughters, Bambi (Brad) Flanner, Michelle (Carl)
3Landriault, and Lisa (Chad) Rowley; his sons, Charles (Susan)
4Harper and Lane (Lisa) Scott; his grandchildren, Brookley,
5Jonah, Brandy, Brittanie, Amanda, Brian, Alix, Travis,
6Jessica, Lindsey, Nick, and Samantha; and his brother, Jesse
7Harper; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Major Charles Robert Harper, U.S. Air Force (Ret) and extend
11our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
12knew and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Charles Harper as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
