| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Michael Lee "Mike" Glassner, who |
| 4 | | passed away on August 3, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Glassner was born in Chicago to Fred and |
| 6 | | Barbara (Franklin) Glassner on April 4, 1947; shortly |
| 7 | | afterward, his family moved to Rock Island; when he was six |
| 8 | | months old, he developed a high fever and convulsions and |
| 9 | | incurred brain damage from encephalitis; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, As a child, Mike Glassner worked with Dr. Donald |
| 11 | | Davis of Augustana College in order to achieve his greatest |
| 12 | | potential; speech therapy was a huge part of this regimen, and |
| 13 | | he was able to attend Horace Mann Elementary School in their |
| 14 | | new special needs department; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Mike Glassner was able to get his driver's |
| 16 | | license by taking the test orally as he could not read; he held |
| 17 | | many jobs successfully; he worked at Jewel Supermarket and |
| 18 | | Ericksen Chevrolet, as well as serving as a custodian at |
| 19 | | corporate offices and schools; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Mike Glassner always had a special love of cars, |
| 21 | | and he asked everyone about their cars; he brought great joy to |
