SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. David M. Dillman of Danville, who passed away on August 18, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman was born to Leslie and Cecelia (Hullinger) Dillman in Provo, Utah on November 14, 1950; he graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1972 and the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1976; he completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; he married Cheryl Vergin in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 25, 1980, and she preceded him in death on November 8, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman started his own practice, Dillman Eye Care, in Danville in the 1980s; during his career, he became known as a pioneer in the field of cataract surgery; he retired in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman raised and adored seven Newfoundland dogs, and he was known for taking them on long walks around Danville; he was an avid Notre Dame football fan; he enjoyed playing card games, especially euchre, during which he enjoyed telling jokes to his family; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman was a dedicated family man, always attending his children's extracurricular events and being there to offer support; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and his sister, Dawnelle Dillman; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman is survived by his daughters, Kayla Dillman and Meryl (Ryan Kaiser) Dillman; his grandchildren, Cecelia Kaiser and June Kaiser; his sister, Debbie (Dave Moody) Dillman; and his brother, Dean (Karen) Dillman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. David M. Dillman and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Dillman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
