| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Thomas L. "Gus" Gainey of Orion, who |
| 4 | | passed away on August 22, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey was born to Guy and Martha Miller |
| 6 | | Gainey in the Colona Township on November 3, 1929; he served in |
| 7 | | the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954; he married Nancy K. |
| 8 | | Westerlund in Orion on October 24, 1952; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey was a longtime farmer in the Orion |
| 10 | | area; he was also employed with Clark Feed & Supply in Orion, |
| 11 | | NBC in Cambridge, and AGH of Orion, where he was a part owner; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey was an active member of the Orion |
| 14 | | United Methodist Church, the Orion American Legion Post #255, |
| 15 | | the Orion Masonic Sherman Lodge, and the Orion Order of the |
| 16 | | Eastern Star; he was also a member of a 50-year card club group |
| 17 | | of friends; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Gus Gainey enjoyed bowling and playing baseball |
| 19 | | in his younger years; he was also a diehard St. Louis Cardinals |
| 20 | | fan; he was an excellent woodworker and an Honor Flight |
| 21 | | attendee, an experience that made him very proud; and
