|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Marvin "Mike" Hines of East Moline, |
4 | | who passed away on September 5, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Hines was born to R. Otto and Lydia (Greely) |
6 | | Hines in Moline on January 23, 1931; he graduated from Moline |
7 | | High School in 1949; he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army |
8 | | during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954; he married Willadean |
9 | | Huffman on October 21, 1956; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Mike Hines was a design engineer at Eagle Signal |
11 | | from 1959 to 1963; he then worked as a senior technician at the |
12 | | John Deere Moline Technical Center, retiring in 1987 after 22 |
13 | | years; he made significant contributions to the |
14 | | instrumentation and electronics field; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Mike Hines started Mike's Kites, creating custom |
16 | | stunt kites and flying them throughout the community; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Mike Hines was a member of Believers Baptist |
18 | | Church in Coal Valley; he was previously a member of Moline |
19 | | Gospel Temple, where he designed and maintained the |
20 | | once-treasured fountain; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Mike Hines enjoyed traveling with his wife and |
2 | | visited all 50 states; he had a talent for fixing things, and |
3 | | he especially enjoyed restoring his 1965 Mustang; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Mike Hines was preceded in death by his parents; |
5 | | his son, Darren Hines; his grandson, Adam Hines; his sisters, |
6 | | Dorothy Root, Fay Hemphill, and an unnamed twin sister; and |
7 | | his brothers, Calvin "Ellis" Hines, Wade Hines, Irvin "Bill" |
8 | | Hines, and Ivan "Bob" Hines; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Mike Hines is survived by his wife of 65 years, |
10 | | Willadean; his daughter, Dana (Dan) Anderson; his son, Paul |
11 | | (Mary) Hines; his grandchildren, Kelly Sikkema, Steven Hines, |
12 | | Colleen Weber, Taylor VanTryon, Jacob Anderson, Sarah |
13 | | Anderson, and Jason Anderson; and his great-grandchildren, |
14 | | Owen, Nora, Leah, and Jayson; therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
17 | | Marvin "Mike" Hines and extend our sincere condolences to his |
18 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
19 | | further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Mike Hines as an expression of our |
22 | | deepest sympathy.
