| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Billy D. "Bill" Halley of Rock Island, |
| 4 | | who passed away on August 31, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Billy Halley was born to Henry and Grace |
| 6 | | (Arnaman) Halley in Unionville, Missouri on June 16, 1927; he |
| 7 | | served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he married Bette |
| 8 | | Butkovich in Unionville; he later he married Shirley White in |
| 9 | | Rock Island in June 1958; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Billy Halley worked at John Deere Harvester Works |
| 11 | | in East Moline for 31 years; during that time, he also worked |
| 12 | | at Ben's Gourmet House in Rock Island; in retirement, he owned |
| 13 | | and operated the River Queen bar and grill in Andalusia; he was |
| 14 | | later an auto parts delivery driver and security guard; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Billy Halley was a member of Rock Island VFW Post |
| 16 | | 1303; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Billy Halley was known for always being fun and |
| 18 | | smiling; he enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with |
| 19 | | his family; he will be remembered for his generosity; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Billy Halley was preceded in death by his |
