2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Erika Dresch of Springfield, who |
4 | | passed away on August 31, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Erika Dresch was born to Ernst and Anna (Tröst) |
6 | | Schaflein in Germany on November 13, 1938; she came to the |
7 | | United States in 1960, settling in Springfield; she later |
8 | | received her U.S. citizenship, of which she was very proud; |
9 | | she learned English, but she never lost her German accent in |
10 | | the many years she lived in the U.S.; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Erika Dresch worked as a waitress for the Illini |
12 | | Country Club, the Island Bay Yacht Club, and the Northfield |
13 | | Inn Conference Center; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Erika Dresch enjoyed cooking amazing, authentic |
15 | | German cuisine, which she loved to share with her family; she |
16 | | also enjoyed bowling, playing the lottery, traveling, and |
17 | | gardening; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Erika Dresch will be remembered for her strong |
19 | | personality and exceptional work ethic; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Erika Dresch was preceded in death by her |

1 | | parents; her son, Robbie Nein; her grandsons, Mitchie Nein and |
2 | | Riley Nein; her sisters, Marga Schuster and Hilde Madrian; her |
3 | | brother, Robert Schaflein; the father of her children, Larry |
4 | | R. Nein; and her beloved dog, Dusty; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Erika Dresch is survived by her daughter, Pia |
6 | | (Rodney) Yoswig; her sons, Larry (Victoria) Nein and Mitchell |
7 | | (Kathy) Nein; her grandchildren, Brittany (Tyler) Sitko, Kevin |
8 | | Owens, Alexis Yoswig, Kendra Nein, Kayla Nein, Mercedes Nein, |
9 | | Cheyenne Nein, Harley Nein, Robbie Nein, Eric (Jordan |
10 | | Miller-Sims) Nein, Jacob Nein, and LaSenda Nein; and her |
11 | | great-grandchildren, Payton, Madelyn, Olivia, Layla, Malia, |
12 | | Mikayah, Adrianna, Randall, Carter, Ayden, and Aubrey; |
13 | | therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Erika Dresch and extend our sincere condolences to her family, |
17 | | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Erika Dresch as an expression of our |
20 | | deepest sympathy.
