SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marna R. Tullis, formerly of Long
4Point, who passed away on September 30, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was born to Clarence and Ruth
6(Saemisch) Mills in Long Point on May 6, 1926; she attended
7Long Point Grade School and graduated from Long Point High
8School in 1944; she earned her bachelor's degree in Education
9and her master's degree in Special Education from Illinois
10State University; she married William J. Tullis at St. Anthony
11Church in Streator on April 19, 1952, and he preceded her in
12death on July 5, 2004; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marna Tullis taught school in Flanagan and later
14at the Woodland School; through the years, she taught Home
15Economics and Special Education; she was teaching sixth grade
16when she retired in 1989; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was a member of the Long Point
18American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as
19president for many years; she was also a member of the
20Livingston County Teachers Association, the Illinois Rural
21Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary, and the Long Point High
22School Alumni Association, where she served as secretary and

1treasurer; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was a member of the former St.
3Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the
4Archangel Church at the time of her passing; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was preceded in death by her
6parents; her husband; and her brother, Byron Mills; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Marna Tullis is survived by her daughters,
8Cynthia (Scott) Ingold and Julie (Jim) Jonen; her son, Greg
9Tullis; her grandchildren, Niki (Adam Swisher) VanDuzer, Ryan
10(Nadia Meghjani) Ingold, Lauren (Jayme) Roberts, and Ashley
11(Gavin Pfieffer) Jonen; and her great-grandchildren, Rocco and
12Dessa VanDuzer; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Marna R. Tullis and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Marna Tullis as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
