2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Marna R. Tullis, formerly of Long |
4 | | Point, who passed away on September 30, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was born to Clarence and Ruth |
6 | | (Saemisch) Mills in Long Point on May 6, 1926; she attended |
7 | | Long Point Grade School and graduated from Long Point High |
8 | | School in 1944; she earned her bachelor's degree in Education |
9 | | and her master's degree in Special Education from Illinois |
10 | | State University; she married William J. Tullis at St. Anthony |
11 | | Church in Streator on April 19, 1952, and he preceded her in |
12 | | death on July 5, 2004; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Marna Tullis taught school in Flanagan and later |
14 | | at the Woodland School; through the years, she taught Home |
15 | | Economics and Special Education; she was teaching sixth grade |
16 | | when she retired in 1989; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was a member of the Long Point |
18 | | American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as |
19 | | president for many years; she was also a member of the |
20 | | Livingston County Teachers Association, the Illinois Rural |
21 | | Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary, and the Long Point High |
22 | | School Alumni Association, where she served as secretary and |
