| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Earnest Lee Vaughns of Rock Island, |
| 4 | | who passed away on October 4, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Earnest Vaughns was born to Elliard "Jack" and |
| 6 | | Arletha (White) Vaughns in Eudora, Arkansas on February 14, |
| 7 | | 1951; he grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin where he graduated from |
| 8 | | high school; on June 10, 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Air |
| 9 | | Force and served until March 1, 1973, when he was honorably |
| 10 | | discharged and returned to Wisconsin; he married Sandra Smith |
| 11 | | in St. Louis, Missouri on December 27, 1980; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, After his military service, Earnest Vaughns moved |
| 13 | | to St. Louis, Missouri and began a career with the federal |
| 14 | | government; after moving to Middletown, Iowa, he worked for |
| 15 | | the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant; in 1984, he began his |
| 16 | | employment as a safety specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal, |
| 17 | | where he worked until his retirement in 2005; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Earnest Vaughns enjoyed fishing, golfing, |
| 19 | | photography, making videos, and going to the casino and |
| 20 | | playing the slot machines; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Earnest Vaughns was preceded in death by his |
