2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Kimberly Joyce Payton, who passed away |
4 | | on April 7, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was born in Chicago to Ophelia |
6 | | Payton and Ray McElroy Sr. on January 2, 1981; as a young |
7 | | child, she was a member of Nazareth Lee Missionary Baptist |
8 | | Church in Jackson, Mississippi before her family relocated to |
9 | | Chicago and joined New Inspirational Missionary Baptist |
10 | | Church; she graduated from Jim Hill High School in Jackson, |
11 | | Mississippi in 2000 and attended Jackson State University; she |
12 | | received her degree from Everest College in Chicago; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was employed at Jackson Park |
14 | | Hospital and Medical Center as a Constant Observer; she was |
15 | | also employed with Comfort Care and Gratia as a Service |
16 | | Provider; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was a member of Greater Morning |
18 | | View Missionary Baptist Church; she had relationships and |
19 | | fellowship with a host of ministries, including Rose of Sharon |
20 | | Women's Group, the Pastor Paula Miller Ministry, and St. Luke |
21 | | Missionary Baptist; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was affectionately known as KJ, |
2 | | Kimmie, Kim, and Momma Kim; her life's accomplishments were |
3 | | being a good mother and a national and local Stand for Children |
4 | | Fellow; she loved to advocate on behalf of children, sing, and |
5 | | talk to her family and friends; more than anything, she loved |
6 | | her mother, who has always been her rock; she loved her |
7 | | children, grandchildren, and job at Jackson Park Hospital; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton was preceded in death by her |
9 | | father, Ray McElroy; her stepfather, Evis McGee; her |
10 | | grandmother, Pearline Gardner (Payton); her grandfathers, |
11 | | Prentiss Payton and Randolph Lindsey; her aunts, Christel |
12 | | Davis and Nina McElroy-Leslie; and her uncles, Randy Lindsey |
13 | | and Billy Payton; and

14 | | WHEREAS, Kimberly Payton is survived by her mother, |
15 | | Ophelia McGee; her grandmother, Dorthy Lindsey; her children, |
16 | | Ja'Quavion Payton, Jeremiah Payton, Kayleb Payton, Kaylan |
17 | | Payton-Mosley (Jazzy), and Ma'Kaiya Payton; her grandson, |
18 | | Jameir Payton; her sister, Arishanta Bibbs (Corey); her |
19 | | brothers, Joseph Payton (Serina), Evis McGee Jr. (Karen), and |
20 | | Ray McElroy Jr.; her aunts, Pearlie Hawk (Auntee Mae Mae), |
21 | | Robin Tate, and Dr. Allison Dixon (Dr. Randy); her uncles, |
22 | | Lonnie Smith, Charles Payton (Uncle Mack), and Theodore |
23 | | Lindsey (Uncle Teddy); her great-aunts, Betty Miles, Aurelia |
24 | | Irwin, and Mary Jane Miller; her great-uncle, Harold Carter; |

5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
6 | | Kimberly Joyce Payton and extend our sincere condolences to |
7 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
8 | | further
