| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of George McLain "Mac" Pogue of Peoria, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on November 13, 2022; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Mac Pogue was born to George and Jane (Bruner) | ||||||
| 6 | Pogue in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 6, 1945; he graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from East Peoria Community High School in 1963; he earned his | ||||||
| 8 | bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Bradley University in | ||||||
| 9 | 1967; he was awarded a NASA scholarship and pursued an | ||||||
| 10 | advanced degree in Mathematics at Kansas University; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Mac Pogue returned to Peoria in 1969 and embarked | ||||||
| 12 | on a 34-year career in I/T at Keystone Steel & Wire Company, | ||||||
| 13 | Caterpillar Inc., and the IBM Corporation; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Mac Pogue was a dedicated scout leader with the | ||||||
| 15 | W. D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of America, and he was the | ||||||
| 16 | proud father of two Eagle Scouts; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Mac Pogue, in retirement, was a passionate | ||||||
| 18 | community volunteer, learner, mentor, and tutor; he served as | ||||||
| 19 | a founding board member of the Peoria Charter School | ||||||
| 20 | Initiative, which launched the Quest Charter Academy; he was | ||||||
| 21 | active in the Peoria Area World Affairs Council, the Osher | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Lifelong Learning Institute at Bradley University, Friends of | ||||||
| 2 | Proctor Center, and Our Saviour's Chapel; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Mac Pogue was well known for his optimism, | ||||||
| 4 | curiosity, and friendliness; he always had a smile and a | ||||||
| 5 | question ready, and he was never the first to leave any | ||||||
| 6 | gathering; he loved playing handball, listening to good music, | ||||||
| 7 | and traveling with family and friends; he deeply enjoyed | ||||||
| 8 | living in Peoria; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Mac Pogue was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
| 10 | and his brother, Bruce Pogue; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Mac Pogue is survived by his wife of 44 years, | ||||||
| 12 | Connie (Cress) Pogue; his sons, Bart (Sarah) Pogue and Justin | ||||||
| 13 | Pogue; his half sister, Eileen (Bob) DeWeese; his two | ||||||
| 14 | grandsons; and many other loved ones; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 17 | George McLain "Mac" Pogue and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
| 18 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
| 19 | it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of Mac Pogue as an expression of our | ||||||
