2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Paul Richard "Dick" Ware of | ||||||
4 | Jacksonville, who passed away on November 20, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Paul Ware was born to Claude and Dorothy Smith | ||||||
6 | Ware in Decatur on July 16, 1931; he graduated from Tuscola | ||||||
7 | High School in 1949; he attended the University of Illinois, | ||||||
8 | where he was a member of the 1952 Big Ten Champion track team, | ||||||
9 | graduating in 1953; he married Maysel Jones in 1949, and she | ||||||
10 | preceded him in death in 1985; he later married Anne Woodrum in | ||||||
11 | 1987, and she preceded him in death in 2015; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Paul Ware began working for his father at Ware | ||||||
13 | Oil Company upon graduation, eventually serving as CEO and | ||||||
14 | chairman of the board; he helped grow the family service | ||||||
15 | station/convenience store business until his retirement; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Paul Ware served on the boards of Elliott State | ||||||
17 | Bank, FirstBank of Illinois, Passavant Hospital, and the | ||||||
18 | Illinois State Museum; he served as president of the Illinois | ||||||
19 | Petroleum Marketers Association and the MacMurray College | ||||||
20 | Board of Trustees; he was a member of the Society of | ||||||
21 | Independent Gasoline Marketers Association, the Ansar | ||||||
22 | Shriners, First Presbyterian Church, Sigma Chi Fraternity, the |

1 | Jacksonville Country Club, and the Elks Club; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Paul Ware was a lifelong student and teacher of | ||||||
3 | nature, particularly of birds and insects, and he especially | ||||||
4 | enjoyed participating in bird banding and bird counts; he | ||||||
5 | continued being an active runner, then walker, through his | ||||||
6 | 80s; he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, and | ||||||
7 | spending time in Florida, where he volunteered at Sarasota's | ||||||
8 | Mote Marine Aquarium; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Paul Ware was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
10 | his son, Robert "Bob" Ware; and his brothers, Jon Ware and Bill | ||||||
11 | Ware; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Paul Ware is survived by his children, Vickie | ||||||
13 | (Danny) Brooks and Jim (Leslie) Ware; his daughter-in-law, | ||||||
14 | Sherri; his grandchildren, Spencer (Jennifer) Ware, Cathy | ||||||
15 | (Bill) Gibson, Christie (Joel) Leege, Abby (Dave) Nagel, and | ||||||
16 | Kelly (John) Armour; his stepson, Bill (Maureen) Woodrum; his | ||||||
17 | step-grandchildren, Amy (Mason) Woodside and Alyssa (Noah) | ||||||
18 | Adams; his step-great-grandson, Brody Johnson; his 17 | ||||||
19 | great-grandchildren; and his several nieces and nephews; | ||||||
20 | therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
