2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Carolyn Poplett of River Forest, who |
4 | | passed away on May 18, 2022 at the age of 92; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Carolyn Poplett was an advocate in her community |
6 | | for mental health and social well being; she was a dedicated |
7 | | volunteer and was adept at encouraging others to serve as |
8 | | well; she dedicated her time to the Thrive Counseling Center |
9 | | and the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association; she was |
10 | | president of the Economy Shop and an active volunteer and |
11 | | philanthropist with the Infant Welfare Society, the Senior |
12 | | Citizens Center of OPRF, the Historical Society of Oak |
13 | | Park-River Forest, and the American Opera Society of Chicago; |
14 | | and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Carolyn Poplett was honored with both the |
16 | | prestigious Rita Johnson Humanitarian Award and the Spirit of |
17 | | Thrive Award in 2014; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Carolyn Poplett wrote a biography of Grace Wilbur |
19 | | Trout, titled The Woman Who Never Fails, which earned an Award |
20 | | of Merit from the Illinois State Historical Society; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Carolyn Poplett was |
