SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David Schweig, who passed away on June
44, 2022 at the age of 86; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Schweig was born in the Humboldt Park
6neighborhood of Chicago on January 15, 1936; he attended
7Tilton Elementary School, Austin High School, and Wilbur
8Wright Junior College; he earned his degree in Economics from
9Denison University in Granville, Ohio; he attended graduate
10school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; he later became
11a longtime Oak Park resident; and
 
12    WHEREAS, David Schweig was employed by the National Labor
13Relations Board and Chicago's Schwinn Bicycle Company in its
14Labor Relations Department; he eventually became an
15entrepreneur in several ventures, including food service and
16real estate; and
 
17    WHEREAS, David Schweig loved captivating conversation,
18engrossing books, and vintage firearms; he was an optimist
19with an unwavering spirit who will be remembered for his
20abundant sense of humor, keen intellect, and affable
21personality; and

1    WHEREAS, David Schweig was an advocate for civil rights
2and a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, an apparent
3contradiction about which he loved to debate others; and
 
4    WHEREAS, David Schweig is survived by his wife, Cynthia;
5his daughters, Jessica Schweig, Leslie Bauer, and Melinda
6Schweig; his stepchildren, Julia Harris-McCline and Chris
7Harris; his grandchildren, Carmelo Harris, JaMya McCline, and
8Jamall McCline; and his numerous nieces and nephews;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12David Schweig and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of David Schweig as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
