| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James F. "Jim" Caldbeck of River |
| 4 | | Forest, who passed away on October 17, 2022 at the age of 94; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was born to Cornelius and Elizabeth |
| 7 | | Caldbeck in Chicago on September 14, 1928; he grew up as the |
| 8 | | sixth of seven children in a lively Irish family; as a child, |
| 9 | | he developed and maintained a strong sense of humor; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck performed with the Holy Name |
| 11 | | Cathedral Choristers in his early days, and a photo of a choir |
| 12 | | performance once landed him on the cover of Catholic Women's |
| 13 | | Magazine; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck joined the U.S. Marine Corps after |
| 15 | | graduating from De LaSalle High School; he trained at Parris |
| 16 | | Island and was stationed at Camp Lejeune before boarding a |
| 17 | | ship to serve on the Mediterranean Sea; upon returning home |
| 18 | | from the Marines, he studied business at Loyola University; |
| 19 | | and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck married Michele "Micki" in 1967, and |
| 21 | | they later welcomed three daughters while living in River |
|

| 1 | | Forest; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was an avid sports fan and enjoyed |
| 3 | | high school, college, and professional games; his favorite |
| 4 | | teams included the Chicago Bears, the Notre Dame Fighting |
| 5 | | Irish, and the Chicago White Sox; his favorite pastime was |
| 6 | | playing tennis; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was comfortable with performing |
| 8 | | domestic duties; he sang You Are My Sunshine to his daughters |
| 9 | | and drove them to school every day; in the kitchen, his |
| 10 | | specialties included brownies, which were sought after by |
| 11 | | family members and friends, and his mashed potato soup; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was known for being a snappy dresser |
| 13 | | due to his mixing and matching of plaid, stripes, and paisley |
| 14 | | in single outfits; he will be remembered for his dad jokes and |
| 15 | | his willingness to offer a compliment or a helping hand; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck was preceded in death by his parents |
| 17 | | and his siblings, Dorothy, Jack, Sunny, Alice, Ray, and Mary; |
| 18 | | and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jim Caldbeck is survived by his wife of 55 years, |
| 20 | | Michele; his daughters, Elizabeth (Craig), Maureen (Adam), and |
| 21 | | Cara (Elliot); and his granddaughter, Madeline; therefore, be |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
| 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 4 | | James F. "Jim" Caldbeck and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 5 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 6 | | further
|
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 8 | | presented to the family of Jim Caldbeck as an expression of our |
| 9 | | deepest sympathy.
