SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Fred Hickman, who passed away on 
4November 9, 2022; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Fred Hickman was born in 1956; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Fred Hickman got his start in radio before 
7joining CNN in the cable news network's first year; he was one 
8of the original co-hosts of CNN Sports Tonight; he remained 
9with CNN until 2001, covering the NFL and NBA as well as 
10several Olympics; he won two CableAce Awards while at CNN; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Fred Hickman joined the Yankee Entertainment and 
12Sports Network (YES) before moving  to spend several years at 
13ESPN, where he was on SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight, and NBA 
14Coast to Coast, among other shows; later, he worked at Fox 
15Sports and several local news stations before joining the 
16short-lived Black News Network as evening newscast anchor; 
17therefore, be it
  
 

  
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
20Fred Hickman and extend our sincere condolences to his family, 
21friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
