| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Mayor Kevin M. Casey of Hometown, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on December 9, 2022; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Mayor Casey was born to Jim and Marilyn Casey on | ||||||
| 6 | November 7, 1954; he was the fourth of six children, namely | ||||||
| 7 | Maureen Pannaralla, Joan (Mike) Cellini, Jim Casey, Marilou | ||||||
| 8 | Casey, and Karen (Steve) Cichon; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Mayor Casey was a devoted public servant, | ||||||
| 10 | beginning his service as an alderman before becoming the Mayor | ||||||
| 11 | of the City of Hometown in 2009, one of his proudest | ||||||
| 12 | achievements; his pride for Hometown was unmatched; he strove | ||||||
| 13 | to always keep Hometown a place where people would want to | ||||||
| 14 | raise their families, taking special care on planning events, | ||||||
| 15 | which included his favorites, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny | ||||||
| 16 | and Breakfast/Pictures with Santa; he also served as a member | ||||||
| 17 | of the Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 School | ||||||
| 18 | Board; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Mayor Casey had three major loves of his life, | ||||||
| 20 | his wife, his family, and the City of Hometown; he and his wife | ||||||
| 21 | enjoyed going out for breakfast before starting a busy day of | ||||||
| 22 | spending time with their children0 and grandchildren; his | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren play sports; | ||||||
| 2 | he also enjoyed playing basketball with his grandchildren, | ||||||
| 3 | playfully teasing them, and attempting to get them on the | ||||||
| 4 | trampoline; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Mayor Casey will be remembered for his presence, | ||||||
| 6 | his sharp sense of humor, and his endless devotion to his wife | ||||||
| 7 | and public service; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Mayor Casey was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 9 | and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Mayor Casey is survived by his wife of 47 years, | ||||||
| 11 | Cathy; his children, Kevin, Michelle (Kyle), Melissa (Dave), | ||||||
| 12 | and Tim; his grandchildren, Katie, Danny, Quin, Cal, Delaney, | ||||||
| 13 | Mason, Shea, Archie, Wolf, Vivienne, and Mick; his | ||||||
| 14 | sisters-in-law, Pam and Linda; his brother-in-law, Roger | ||||||
| 15 | (Nadine); his Foley brothers and sisters; and his many nieces | ||||||
| 16 | and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 19 | Mayor Kevin M. Casey of Hometown and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 20 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 21 | him; and be it further
