|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of John P. Ridder of New Berlin, who |
4 | | passed away on December 7, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, John Ridder was born to John J. and Effie Coker |
6 | | Ridder in Jacksonville on October 21, 1923; he graduated from |
7 | | Jacksonville High School; he served in the U.S. Army in the |
8 | | Philippines from 1943 to 1945, and he was awarded a Purple |
9 | | Heart and a Bronze Star for his efforts during the Battle for |
10 | | Luzon; he married Agnes "Ag" Taylor, and she preceded him in |
11 | | death on January 8, 2015; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, John Ridder had a long and distinguished career |
13 | | in construction; he was well respected as one of the best |
14 | | finish carpenters in the area and worked with several |
15 | | generations of the Chumley family; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, John Ridder was a life member of the American |
17 | | Legion; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, John Ridder enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, |
19 | | golfing, and rooting for the University of Illinois and the |
20 | | St. Louis Cardinals; and |
|

1 | | WHEREAS, John Ridder was preceded in death by his wife of |
2 | | 68 years, Agnes; his daughter, Beverly Saylor; his sisters, |
3 | | Nellie Ridder, Virgil Sperry, Rose Hartmeister, and Clara |
4 | | Chumley; and his brothers, George, James, and Andrew Ridder; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, John Ridder is survived by his daughter, Cheryl |
7 | | (Bob) Rainey; his son-in-law, Mike (the late Beverly) Saylor; |
8 | | his grandchildren, Sean (Jennifer) Saylor, Chris (Julie) |
9 | | Saylor, Cara (Jed) Findlay, and Tricia (Graham) Mattes; his |
10 | | great-grandchildren, Peyton and Jase Saylor, Ben and Jack |
11 | | Findlay, Griffin, Owen and Brooks Mattes, and Delaney and |
12 | | McCoy Ridder Saylor; and his numerous nieces and nephews; |
13 | | therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

16 | | John P. Ridder and extend our sincere
condolences to his |
