| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Ameline M. "Emily" Rashid LaHood of | ||||||
| 4 | Peoria, who passed away on December 15, 2022; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was born in Keokuk, Iowa to Fadwa | ||||||
| 6 | Milhelm and Shafee Ameen Rashid on February 1, 1936; she moved | ||||||
| 7 | from Keokuk to Peoria with her family in 1941; she attended St. | ||||||
| 8 | Joseph's Grade School, Academy of Our Lady High School, and | ||||||
| 9 | Bradley University; she married Edward A. LaHood on October 5, | ||||||
| 10 | 1963; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was a legal secretary for 10 years; | ||||||
| 12 | and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was a member and past president of | ||||||
| 14 | the Catholic Women's League, the St. Vincent DePaul Ladies | ||||||
| 15 | Sodality, and the Rashid Club of America; she was also a member | ||||||
| 16 | of St. Vincent DePaul Church for many years and a member of St. | ||||||
| 17 | Sharbel Maronite Church; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was deeply devoted to her family, | ||||||
| 19 | including her many relatives and friends in Peoria and the | ||||||
| 20 | Rashid family throughout the country; she was generous beyond | ||||||
| 21 | measure and utterly selfless, providing support, gifts, and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | encouragement to everyone she knew; her hospitality was | ||||||
| 2 | unparalleled, and she was considered one of the finest chefs | ||||||
| 3 | in the Lebanese community; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Emily LaHood was preceded in death by her parents | ||||||
| 5 | and her brother, Dr. Ameel G. Rashid and his wife, Joyce Lahne | ||||||
| 6 | Rashid; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Emily LaHood is survived by her husband, Edward; | ||||||
| 8 | her children, Edward R. LaHood (Carith Eggerichs) and Maria | ||||||
| 9 | LaHood (Barent Roth); her granddaughters, Nicolette LaHood and | ||||||
| 10 | Cyla LaHood Roth; and her brother's family, Gregory, Parker, | ||||||
| 11 | and Anna Rashid, Jeffrey Rashid (Susan Wittry), Susan Rashid, | ||||||
| 12 | Mackenzie Palmer, and Waylon Lafferty; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Ameline M. "Emily" Rashid LaHood and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 16 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 17 | her; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Emily LaHood as an expression of our | ||||||
| 20 | deepest sympathy.
