AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 303

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 303 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 
534-18.87 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/34-18.87 new)
7    Sec. 34-18.87. Selective enrollment schools; moratorium on 
8closures, changes to standards of admission, and 
9disproportionate decreases in funding. 
10    (a) Until February 1, 2027, the board shall not close any 
11attendance center within the school district that has 
12selective admission requirements that apply to the entire 
13student body and that are approved by the board.
14    (b) Until February 1, 2027, the board shall not change the 
15standards for admission to any attendance center within the 
16school district that has selective admission requirements that

1apply to the entire student body and that are approved by the 
2board.
3    (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code, the 
4board shall not take any action, until February 1, 2027, that 
5results in a disproportionate decrease in either the total 
6amount or percentage of funds allocated to an attendance 
7center within the school district that has selective admission 
8requirements that apply to the entire student body and that 
9are approved by the board compared to other attendance centers 
10of comparable size.
 
11    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
12becoming law.".
