1 | | AN ACT concerning regulation.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and
|
5 | | Audiology Practice Act is amended by changing Section 8.5 as |
6 | | follows:
|
7 | | (225 ILCS 110/8.5)
|
8 | | (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2028)
|
9 | | Sec. 8.5. Qualifications for licenses as a speech-language |
10 | | pathology
assistant. A person is qualified to be licensed as a |
11 | | speech-language
pathology assistant if that person has applied |
12 | | in writing or electronically on forms prescribed
by the |
13 | | Department, has paid the required fees, and meets both of the |
14 | | following
criteria:

15 | | (1) Is of good moral character. In determining moral |
16 | | character, the
Department
may take into consideration any |
17 | | felony conviction or plea of guilty or nolo contendere of |
18 | | the
applicant, but such a conviction or plea shall not |
19 | | operate automatically as a complete
bar to licensure.

20 | | (2) Has received either (i) an associate degree from a |
21 | | speech-language pathology
assistant
program that has been |
22 | | approved by the Department and
that meets the minimum |
23 | | requirements set forth in Section 8.6 , or (ii) a |
