| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 34-18.82 as follows: |
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/34-18.82 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 34-18.82. Subsequent teaching endorsements for |
| 8 | | employees. |
| 9 | | (a) Subsequent teaching endorsements may be granted to |
| 10 | | employees licensed under Article 21B of this Code for specific |
| 11 | | content areas and grade levels as part of a pilot program. |
| 12 | | (b) The school district is authorized to prepare educators |
| 13 | | for subsequent teaching endorsements on licenses issued under |
| 14 | | paragraph (1) of Section 21B-20 of this Code to applicants who |
| 15 | | meet all of the requirements for the endorsement or |
| 16 | | endorsements, including passing any required content area |
| 17 | | knowledge tests. If seeking to provide subsequent |
| 18 | | endorsements, the school district must establish professional |
| 19 | | development sequences to be offered instead of coursework |
| 20 | | required for issuance of the subsequent endorsement and must |
| 21 | | apply for approval of these professional development sequences |
| 22 | | by the State Board of Education, in collaboration with the |
| 23 | | State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board. The |
