| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 24-3.1 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/24-3.1 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 24-3.1. Attendance for federal advocacy work. For any |
| 8 | | teacher who is a member of a statewide association |
| 9 | | representing teachers, who is elected by the association's |
| 10 | | membership to represent the association for federal advocacy |
| 11 | | work, for up to 10 days in any school year spent by a teacher |
| 12 | | during the term, time spent in attendance at a meeting or |
| 13 | | gathering for federal advocacy work shall be considered time |
| 14 | | expended in the service of the district and no deduction of |
| 15 | | wages shall be made for such attendance.
