9 | University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13 | University. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14 | (b) Each academic year, a university shall offer a 50% | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15 | tuition waiver for undergraduate education to each child of an | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16 | employee of the University System who has been employed by the | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17 | University System for an aggregate period of at least 7 years. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18 | To be eligible to receive the partial tuition waiver, the | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
19 | child (i) must be under the age of 25 at the commencement of | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
20 | the academic year during which the partial tuition waiver is | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
21 | to be effective and (ii) must qualify for admission to the | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
22 | university under the same admissions requirements, standards, | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
23 | and policies that the university applies to applicants for |

3 | (c) Each academic year, a university shall offer a full | ||||||
4 | tuition waiver for undergraduate education to each child of a | ||||||
5 | person who died while employed full time by the University | ||||||
6 | System or while on leave from full-time employment with the | ||||||
7 | University System. To be eligible to receive the full tuition | ||||||
8 | waiver, the child (i) must be under the age of 25 at the | ||||||
9 | commencement of the academic year during which the tuition | ||||||
10 | waiver is to be effective and (ii) must qualify for admission | ||||||
11 | to the university under the same admissions requirements, | ||||||
12 | standards, and policies that the university applies to | ||||||
13 | applicants for admission generally to its respective | ||||||
14 | undergraduate colleges and programs. | ||||||
15 | (d) Subject to subsections (b) and (c), an eligible | ||||||
16 | applicant for a tuition waiver under this Section who has | ||||||
17 | continued to maintain satisfactory academic progress toward | ||||||
18 | graduation may have his or her tuition waiver renewed until | ||||||
19 | the time as he or she has expended 4 years of undergraduate | ||||||
20 | tuition waiver benefits under this Section. | ||||||
21 | (e) The Merit Board shall adopt any rules necessary to | ||||||
22 | implement and administer this Section. | ||||||
23 | (f) Nothing in this Section limits a university's | ||||||
24 | implementation of its own tuition waiver program for the | ||||||
25 | children of employees. |
