1 | | AN ACT concerning safety. |
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Pesticide Act is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 13.6 as follows: |
6 | | (415 ILCS 60/13.6 new) |
7 | | Sec. 13.6. Notice prior to application of a pesticide at a |
8 | | park or school. Beginning January 1, 2025, at least 72 hours |
9 | | before applying a pesticide within one-half mile of a school |
10 | | or public park, a certified applicator shall deliver a written |
11 | | notice or email message to the official who is the |
12 | | administrator of the public park or school describing the |
13 | | pesticide that is to be applied. As used in this Section, |
14 | | "public park" includes a park, forest preserve, bikeway, |
15 | | trail, or conservation area under the jurisdiction of the |
16 | | State or a unit of local government. |
