| 5 | on page 3, line 3, by replacing "provide the option" with | ||||||
| 6 | "allow for automatic eligibility"; and | ||||||
| 7 | on page 3, line 10, by replacing "provided with the option" | ||||||
| 8 | with "automatically eligible"; and | ||||||
| 9 | on page 3, line 14, by replacing "provided with the option" | ||||||
| 10 | with "automatically eligible"; and | ||||||
| 11 | on page 3, line 17, by replacing "provided with the option" | ||||||
| 12 | with "automatically eligible"; and | ||||||
| 13 | on page 5, line 4, after "(a-25)", by inserting "A school | ||||||

| 1 | district's accelerated placement policy must include a process | ||||||
| 2 | through which the parent or guardian of each student who meets | ||||||
| 3 | State standards is provided notification in writing of the | ||||||
| 4 | student's eligibility for enrollment in accelerated courses. | ||||||
| 5 | This notification must provide details on the procedures for | ||||||
| 6 | the parent or guardian to enroll or not enroll the student in | ||||||
| 7 | accelerated courses, in writing, on forms the school district | ||||||
| 8 | makes available. If no course selection is made by the parent | ||||||
| 9 | or guardian in accordance with procedures set forth by the | ||||||
| 10 | school district, the student shall be automatically enrolled | ||||||
| 11 | in the next most rigorous level of coursework."; and | ||||||
| 12 | on page 5, immediately below line 16, by inserting the | ||||||
| 13 | following: | ||||||
| 14 | "(a-30) Nothing in this Section shall prohibit the | ||||||
| 15 | implementation of policies that allow for automatic enrollment | ||||||
| 16 | of students who meet standards on State assessments into the | ||||||
| 17 | next most rigorous level of advanced coursework offered by a | ||||||
| 18 | high school.". | ||||||
