SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
Makes various appropriations from the General Revenue Fund to the Supreme Court for mental health and substance abuse services provided by local probation departments and the Office of Statewide Pretrial Services. Appropriates $9,000,000 to the Supreme Court for the establishment and maintenance of crisis intervention mental health care units. Effective July 1, 2024.

AN ACT concerning appropriations.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The following named amounts, or so much thereof as may be necessary, respectively, are appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Supreme Court for the objects and purposes hereinafter named:
For reimbursement to local Probation
Departments for mental health expenses
for Medicaid-eligible individuals on
probation caseloads and on
problem-solving court caseloads.............. $ 25,000,000
For reimbursement to local Probation
Departments for mental health expenses
for juveniles on probation caseloads and
in juvenile detention centers................. $4,000,000
For reimbursement to local Probation
Departments or the Office
of Statewide Pretrial Services for mental
health services for individuals on pretrial
caseloads................................... $4,000,000
For reimbursement to local Probation
Departments and the Office of
Statewide Pretrial Services for
substance abuse services for
individuals on pretrial caseloads............ $6,000,000
Total $39,000,000
Section 10. The amount of $9,000,000, or so much of that amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the Supreme Court for the establishment and maintenance of crisis intervention mental health care units for regional use and availability by probation departments for adults and juveniles or by the Office of Statewide Pretrial Services for adults in need of immediate care and placement.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2024.
