1 | | AN ACT concerning education. |
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 9.44 as follows: |
6 | | (110 ILCS 205/9.44 new) |
7 | | Sec. 9.44. Artificial intelligence education report. |
8 | | (a) In this Section, "artificial intelligence" means a |
9 | | machine-based system that can, for a given set of |
10 | | human-defined objectives, make predictions, recommendations, |
11 | | or decisions influencing real or virtual environments. |
12 | | (b) Within 6 months of the effective date of this |
13 | | amendatory Act of the 103rd General Assembly, the Board shall |
14 | | prepare a report to the General Assembly on the state of |
15 | | artificial intelligence education and development in public |
16 | | and private institutions of higher education. The report shall |
17 | | contain, at a minimum, the following information: |
18 | | (1) All existing academic programs and courses |
19 | | focusing on education of students about the use, |
20 | | development, and ethical and social implications of |
21 | | artificial intelligence systems. |
22 | | (2) All future plans for implementing such programs |
23 | | and courses. |
