| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Public Higher Education Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 15 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (110 ILCS 167/15 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 15. National Guard and reservist classwork policy. |
| 8 | | The governing board of each public institution of higher |
| 9 | | education shall adopt a policy to allow a student who is a |
| 10 | | member of the National Guard of any state, the District of |
| 11 | | Columbia, a commonwealth, or a territory of the United States |
| 12 | | or any reserve component of the Armed Forces of the United |
| 13 | | States to submit classwork and complete any other class |
| 14 | | assignments missed due to the student participating in a drill |
| 15 | | or other military obligation required as a member of the |
| 16 | | National Guard or the reserve component. |
