SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 25/1.30 new

    Amends the Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act. Provides that, beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, an association or other entity that has as one of its purposes promoting, sponsoring, regulating, or in any manner providing for interscholastic athletics or any form of athletic competition among schools and students within this State shall allow students to participate in interscholastic athletic practices and events as a member of the team of a school in the school district if the student meets specified conditions. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act
5is amended by adding Section 1.30 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 25/1.30 new)
7    Sec. 1.30. Student participation in interscholastic
8athletics. Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, an
9association or other entity that has as one of its purposes
10promoting, sponsoring, regulating, or in any manner providing
11for interscholastic athletics or any form of athletic
12competition among schools and students within this State shall
13allow a student to participate in interscholastic athletic
14practices and events as a member of a team for a school in a
15school district if the student is (1) listed in the statewide
16student information system established by the State Board of
17Education, (2) included in the school district's
18evidence-based funding calculation or submitted enrollment
19data under Section 18-8.15 of the School Code, (3) attending
20at least one course at a school in the school district, and (4)
21residing within the school district.
 
22    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
