HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Larry's House of Cakes of 
4Marion on the occasion of its six decades of serving the 
5community with delectable desserts; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes was opened by Larry 
7Clayton in May 1963; the shop initially served doughnuts 
8before offering birthday cakes, which became the shop's most 
9popular item; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Today, Larry's House of Cakes is under the 
11leadership of Larry Clayton's sons, Neil, David, and Dale, and 
12offers a vast assortment of pastries and baked goods, 
13including brownies, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and chocolate 
14covered bacon; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes has become especially 
16renowned for its pink cookies, which are popular with 
17everyone, from the casual foodie to the dessert connoisseur; 
18and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Larry's House of Cakes has remained a 
20family-owned and operated business for the past 60 years, an 
21accomplishment rarely achieved; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Larry's House of Cakes on its 60th 
4anniversary, and we congratulate brothers Neil, David, and 
5Dale Clayton on continuing their father's legacy and the 
6family business; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That we wish Larry's House of Cakes continued 
8success in the pursuit of its mission to bring consistent, 
9delicious, freshly baked goods to the people of southern 
10Illinois; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Clayton family as an expression of our esteem and 
13respect.
