HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Future Teachers of America clubs are designed for students to accentuate a passion for teaching and learning, to discuss relevant topics regarding the field of education, to connect with mentors, local resources, and opportunities, to gain great leadership and communication skills, to learn about careers in education, and to develop a positive self-concept; and

WHEREAS, Future Educators of America clubs strive to interest students in the field of education by providing information about careers in education and opportunities to participate in experiences that develop the qualities and skills essential for successful teaching; and

WHEREAS, The recruitment of students from all ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds is emphasized by Future Educators of America clubs; and

WHEREAS, Future Educators of America clubs encourage all students to strive for academic excellence, to model appropriate classroom behavior, and to develop a positive self-concept; and

WHEREAS, Future Educators of America clubs strive to enhance school improvement by fostering a greater appreciation for teaching and learning, by assisting students, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel with school-related activities, and by encouraging members to be positive role models; and

WHEREAS, Future Educators of America clubs promote a positive image of the teaching profession by encouraging parent and community involvement in school activities, encouraging student involvement in the community, and encouraging business and school partnerships; and

WHEREAS, Future Educators of America clubs can strive to inform members, advisors, and administrators of the growing demand for qualified teachers in Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge schools across the state to pursue starting Future Teachers of America clubs.
