| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the members of the |
| 3 | | Illinois House of Representatives remember the many sacrifices |
| 4 | | and contributions to the cause of freedom made by the |
| 5 | | outstanding men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Private First Class Donnie Joe Clough of |
| 8 | | Hindsboro was born to Joseph and Pearl Tate Clough in Tuscola |
| 9 | | on July 27, 1949; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, PFC Clough volunteered to serve in the U.S. |
| 11 | | Marine Corps in July of 1968; he was sent overseas on January |
| 12 | | 27, 1969, serving as a rifleman in the 1st Marine Division, 2nd |
| 13 | | Battalion, 5th Marine, F Company; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, PFC Clough was killed while on duty in the Quang |
| 15 | | Nam Providence in Vietnam on September 9, 1969; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, PFC Clough was awarded the Purple Heart, the |
| 17 | | Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal with one |
| 18 | | Service Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense |
| 19 | | Service Medal, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, PFC Clough was |
