| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize Tonya Lamia on the occasion |
| 4 | | of her many years of dedicated service to the economic |
| 5 | | well-being of Illinois businesses; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Tonya Lamia has spent more than 30 years working |
| 7 | | to advance private businesses, economic development |
| 8 | | organizations, state agencies, and business associations in |
| 9 | | the Rockford region and throughout the State of Illinois; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Tonya Lamia has been involved throughout her |
| 11 | | community, including serving on the Greater Rockford Airport |
| 12 | | Authority Board of Commissioners; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Tonya Lamia was hired as executive director of |
| 14 | | the Parks Chamber of Commerce in 2019, and she has been |
| 15 | | instrumental in leading the organization to help businesses |
| 16 | | succeed with the right tools, connections, and resources to |
| 17 | | produce world-class events and to advocate for a competitive |
| 18 | | business climate; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Tonya Lamia oversaw the transition of the Parks |
| 20 | | Chamber of Commerce from an organization that managed the |
| 21 | | annual Young at Heart Festival through 2018 to a |
|

| 1 | | business-focused organization that more actively supports the |
| 2 | | interests of its members; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Tonya Lamia played a significant role in the |
| 4 | | creation of critical initiatives, including the 2022 |
| 5 | | Legislative Event Series that featured "State of" addresses |
| 6 | | from elected officials and community leaders, the annual golf |
| 7 | | outing fundraiser, and the new Placemaking in The Parks |
| 8 | | initiative designed to attract visitors, encourage |
| 9 | | investments, and improve lives; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Tonya Lamia served the business community during |
| 11 | | the COVID-19 pandemic, leading innovative programs with |
| 12 | | partnership from regionwide stakeholders to address the |
| 13 | | serious challenges faced by the business community; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Tonya Lamia will retire from the Parks Chamber of |
| 15 | | Commerce on April 20, 2023, thus ending an impressive career |
| 16 | | dedicated to the advancement of economic opportunity |
| 17 | | throughout northern Illinois and our State; therefore, be it
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 19 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 20 | | we recognize and applaud Tonya Lamia's many years of dedicated |
| 21 | | service to the economic well-being of Illinois businesses, and |
| 22 | | we wish her happiness and great success in her future |
