HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, There are thousands of therapy animal teams 
3serving in communities across the United States; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Therapy animal teams play an essential role in 
5improving human health and well-being through the human-animal 
6bond; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Therapy animal teams make millions of visits per 
8year in such settings as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, 
9and hospice; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Therapy animal teams interact with a variety of 
11people in our communities, including veterans, seniors, 
12patients, students facing literacy challenges, and those 
13approaching end of life; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, These exceptional therapy animals who partner 
15with their human companions bring comfort and healing to those 
16in need; therefore, be it
  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
18HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
19we declare April 30, 2023 as Therapy Animal Day in the State of 
20Illinois; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That we encourage Illinoisans to celebrate 
2therapy animals and their human handlers, and we salute the 
3service of therapy animal teams in our communities across 
4Illinois and the nation.
