HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, For 40 years, the Salvation Army Norridge Citadel
3has been serving the northwest Chicago suburban community with
4dedication to "Doing the Most Good"; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois
6Division provides programs to combat homelessness, to provide
7safe spaces for children on weekends and after school, to
8achieve sobriety and maintain it, and to give hope to people in
9need in the greater Chicagoland area, Northern and Central
10Illinois, and Northwest Indiana; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Among other services, the Norridge Citadel offers
12a food pantry, fellowship opportunities, Mama & Me,
13conversation classes for English learners, a parenting class,
14youth music, character building, and opportunities for worship
15in their communities; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The Norridge Citadel also offers the Pathway of
17Hope system to help families identify the barriers to
18self-sufficiency, address the barriers, and connect with
19community support organizations; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Around the holidays, the Norridge Citadel
21participates in the iconic activities of the Salvation Army to

1spread goodwill and cheer, including the Angel Tree program
2and the famous Red Kettle program; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The Norridge Citadel has made a tremendous impact
4in the 20th District and the surrounding communities, acting
5as a hub in the communities it serves; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we congratulate the Salvation Army Norridge Citadel for its 40
9years of helping people in the 20th District and surrounding
10communities in difficult and trying times, truly working to do
11the most good; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
13presented to Salvation Army Norridge Citadel Majors Peter and
14Catherine Mount to congratulate them on four decades of
15success and compassion in the northwestern Chicago and
16suburban communities.
