| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate New Trier High School | ||||||
| 4 | Head Coach Mike Napoleon on becoming the Illinois High School | ||||||
| 5 | Association's (IHSA) winningest baseball coach; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Mike Napoleon set the IHSA record for victories | ||||||
| 7 | by a baseball coach, 951, when his Trevians beat Glenbrook | ||||||
| 8 | North High School 5 to 0 on April 27, 2023; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Mike Napoleon has been a head coach for 38 years, | ||||||
| 10 | the last 27 with New Trier, and is affectionately known as | ||||||
| 11 | "Coach Naps"; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Mike Napoleon has a record of 697-247-3 at New | ||||||
| 13 | Trier with 14 Central Suburban League titles, 19 regional | ||||||
| 14 | titles, and 10 supersectional titles; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Mike Napoleon feels fortunate for having had his | ||||||
| 16 | assistant coaches with him for 20 years; his varsity staff | ||||||
| 17 | includes Pete Drevline, Scott Klipowicz, and former Chicago | ||||||
| 18 | Cubs star Kerry Wood; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Mike Napoleon was a three-sport athlete at St. | ||||||
| 20 | Patrick High School; after graduating from the University of | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Illinois in 1982, he was a varsity assistant at Quigley South | ||||||
| 2 | High School before being hired as head coach at Notre Dame High | ||||||
| 3 | School in Niles in 1984; after five seasons at Providence | ||||||
| 4 | Catholic High School in New Lenox, he joined New Trier in the | ||||||
| 5 | fall of 1996; he's also been an assistant football coach | ||||||
| 6 | throughout his tenure at Providence and New Trier; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Mike Napoleon and his wife of 39 years, Melanie, | ||||||
| 8 | have two sons, Dusty and Dylan, who are assistant baseball | ||||||
| 9 | coaches at Northwestern University and Western Kentucky | ||||||
| 10 | University; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we congratulate New Trier High School Head Coach Mike Napoleon | ||||||
| 14 | on becoming the Illinois High School Association's winningest | ||||||
| 15 | baseball coach; and be it further

| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to Mike Napoleon as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 18 | esteem.
