2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Anna Peplowski on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of being selected for the U.S. Women's National Swim | ||||||
5 | Team to compete in the 2023 World Aquatics Championships; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The 2023 World Aquatics Championships will be | ||||||
7 | held at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan from July 14 to | ||||||
8 | July 30, 2023; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Anna Peplowski is a native of Germantown Hills; | ||||||
10 | she is the daughter of Doug and Leslie Peplowski, and she is | ||||||
11 | the sibling of three sisters, Noelle, Ella, and Eva, and one | ||||||
12 | brother, Jake; she is a graduate of Metamora Township High | ||||||
13 | School, where she was a member of the girls swimming and diving | ||||||
14 | team; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, During her high school swim career, Anna | ||||||
16 | Peplowski was named to the All-State first team in four events | ||||||
17 | during her senior season, was the 100-yard freestyle state | ||||||
18 | champion in Illinois, set three state records in Illinois, and | ||||||
19 | was the school record holder in the 50-yard, 100-yard, and | ||||||
20 | 200-yard freestyle events, the 100-yard backstroke, and a pair | ||||||
21 | of relay events; she was also a qualifier for the 2020 Olympic | ||||||
22 | Trials, and she was named the 2020-21 Journal Star Area |

1 | Swimmer of the Year and 2020-21 Tri-County Female Athlete of | ||||||
2 | the Year; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Anna Peplowski is currently a member of the | ||||||
4 | women's swimming and diving team at Indiana University; during | ||||||
5 | the 2021-22 season, she was named a two-time All-American, the | ||||||
6 | 2022 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and to the second-team of | ||||||
7 | the All-Big Ten; during the 2022-23 season, she medaled in all | ||||||
8 | seven events in which she competed, set the program record in | ||||||
9 | the 200-yard free title, was named the 2023 Big Ten Swimmer of | ||||||
10 | the Championships and to the first-team of the All-Big Ten, | ||||||
11 | and placed in three Big Ten events, the 200-yard individual | ||||||
12 | freestyle, the 200-yard individual backstroke, and the | ||||||
13 | 800-yard free relay; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, At the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, Anna | ||||||
15 | Peplowski will serve as second alternate for the 200-yard | ||||||
16 | relay event and has been assigned to swim in the | ||||||
17 | preliminaries; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Anna Peplowski will be entering her junior year | ||||||
19 | at Indiana University this fall; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
21 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
22 | we congratulate Anna Peplowski on being selected for the U.S. |
