HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Reverend Ricky D. Dixon on 
4the occasion of his installation as pastor of Beautiful Zion 
5Missionary Baptist Church (BZMBC); and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, BZMBC, organized with 16 members in 1945, is 
7located on Chicago's South Side and provides spiritual 
8leadership and pastoral care to congregants, the larger 
9Englewood community, and beyond; the church is committed to 
10discipleship, fellowship, love, care, and its faith; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Rev. Dixon is a native of Joliet; he committed to 
12his faith at Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church of South 
13Holland on March 18, 1998; he earned a bachelor's degree in 
14sociology from Eastern Illinois University and also holds a 
15specialized certificate from Northern Theological Seminary in 
16Lombard, where he is pursuing a Master of Arts in Urban 
17Leadership; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Rev. Dixon has more than 12 years of successful 
19pastoral experience, most recently as an associate minister at 
20Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, where he is a 
21member; for more than a decade, he served as pastor at Mt. 
22Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Sun River Terrace; he

1also previously served in a leadership role at Zion Travelers 
2Missionary Baptist Church in South Holland; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Professionally, Rev. Dixon is the senior director 
4of Membership Operations for the American Dental Association 
5(ADA), a professional association based in Chicago comprised 
6of more than 156,000 members; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Rev. Dixon is the husband of Eva Marie (Thomas) 
8Dixon, and they have been married for 28 years; together, they 
9are the parents of Joshua Thomas Dixon and the late Hannah 
10Noel; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Rev. Dixon will be the sixth dynamic leader to 
12serve at the helm in BZMBC's history, and he will be installed 
13as the pastor on July 30, 2023; therefore, be it
  
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
15HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
16we recognize Reverend Ricky D. Dixon on his installation as 
17pastor of Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church (BZMBC) of 
18Chicago; and be it further
  
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
20presented to Rev. Dixon as an expression of our esteem and 
21respect.
