| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ellen |
| 4 | | Brown-Dixon of Chicago, who passed away on August 4, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon was born in Canton, Mississippi |
| 6 | | to Harvey and Mattie Mondy on November 18, 1920; she married |
| 7 | | Earnest Dixon; she moved to Chicago and became a member of |
| 8 | | Mother of Gospel Truth MB Church; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon worked at Zenith Electronics |
| 10 | | building televisions; she retired from Beverly Bank in 1983; |
| 11 | | she later became a nanny for the Sigman family and loved their |
| 12 | | son, David, as her own; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon enjoyed reading the Bible, |
| 14 | | cooking, baking, entertaining family and friends, and dressing |
| 15 | | "to the Nines"; she supported her block, her church, and her |
| 16 | | community, helping those in need and volunteering in many |
| 17 | | capacities for programs and fundraisers whenever she saw a |
| 18 | | need; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Ellen Brown-Dixon was preceded in death by her |
| 20 | | parents; her husband, Earnest; her son, J.D. Smith; and her |
| 21 | | six siblings; and
